General Website Process
- Schedule a free discovery call to see if we’re a good fit.
- Book your website by signing a contract and paying a 50% deposit.
- We have a 1-hour strategy session to review your website/business goals and strategy.
- I create your web design mockups and send them to you for approval.
- You pay the remaining 50% balance.
- I develop your fully functioning website and send it to you for your approval.
- We launch your website. Yay!
A 50% deposit is due upfront before I begin any work on your website. This reserves your spot in my schedule, and covers the strategy session and design portion of your project.
Your final 50% payment is due after the design portion of your project is complete. This payment covers the web development phase of your project in which your approved design is made into an actual website.
I will email you invoices that can be paid through PayPal. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you have the option of paying with a credit card through the PayPal website.
Refunds + Cancellation
Due to the nature of my services, I do not offer refunds after commencing work on your project. Just as you wouldn’t expect a plumber to refund you after fixing a leak, I cannot turn back time and reverse the hours spent working on your website.
You will have multiple opportunities to give me your feedback throughout the web design and development process to ensure you love your website.
If you reside within the European Union (EU), you have the right to a 14-day cooling off period within which you may cancel the contract. This period begins when you send your payment and ends 14 calendar days after that date. If you wish to cancel, you must inform me via email before the cooling off period ends.
If you would like me to begin work on your website within the cooling off period, you agree to the following:
- If you decide to cancel and the services have been partially completed, you are required to pay for the services that have been rendered up until that point. Any additional sums that have been paid will be refunded.
- You lose your right to cancel once the services are complete.
I respect your time and make every effort to respond to your emails within 24 hours (excluding weekends and bank holidays), and kindly ask that you do the same.
If you fail to respond to emails within 15 days, your project will be put on hold. It wouldn’t be fair to delay someone else’s project because you disappeared without warning, so your project can resume after my other projects are complete.
If I don’t hear from you within 30 days, your project will be considered abandoned. All incomplete work will remain the property of Pixel Frau and all monies forfeited. Abandoned projects may be restarted with a 25% restart fee, subject to my availability.
Changes + Revisions
Your website project includes 2 rounds of revisions. I will create design mockups after our strategy session and send them to you for feedback. You’ll send me a list of requested changes. I’ll make those changes and send you the revised design mockups for your final feedback.
Revisions must be sent together in one email rather than lots of separate one-liner emails. This saves time and makes it easier for both of us to keep track of everything—so that your website is finished on time and looks exactly how you want.
You will have one final opportunity to review your completed website before it’s launched. This is a quick review to make sure the website looks and functions as previously agreed to. You will have already sent revisions and approved the web design at this point. If you change your mind or would like additional changes to the web design or functionality, they will be billed at my hourly rate.
Domain Names + Web Hosting
None of my website services include domain names or web hosting. It’s better for you and your business to have both registered under your name so that you always have full access to and control of them.
Unless mutually agreed upon in advance, my website services do not include uploading, adding or revising your content. I may create ‘dummy’ pages and blog posts with placeholder text for demonstration purposes. You can replace the placeholder text with your actual content whenever you’re ready.
I don’t include this for a few of reasons:
- Adding website content is very time consuming. Not including it keeps the price of my website packages down, which is helpful for people on a tight budget.
- A lot of people get hung up on writing their website content. Instead of feeling pressured to send me your website copy on a tight deadline, you’ll have as much time as you need to write it and can add it to your site whenever you’re ready.
- Adding the content yourself is a fantastic introduction to using your new website. It will bring up questions sooner rather than later, so I can help you during the 30 day email support window.
Website projects include 30 days of email support.
Support includes answering questions and assisting you in using your website as it was delivered. It does not include me doing additional work on your website, providing instructions on how to alter your website code, or fixing errors that result from new plugins you install, your website being hacked or you altering the website code.
I own a developer license for the Genesis framework, which allows me to use them on your website. However, my license does not pass on to you nor give you access to StudioPress support. I highly recommend purchasing your own Genesis license*, which will grant you lifetime access to StudioPress support and their community forums.
I do not provide support for email or other services related to your web hosting account. Your web host should be able to help you with that stuff.
Copyright + Liability
You will own the rights to any graphics or visual elements that I create for you.
I will own any customized HTML, CSS, PHP, JS and other code and license it to you for use only on this single website project.
You guarantee that you either own or have permission from the rightful owner to use any elements of text, graphics, photos, designs, trademarks or other artwork you provide for use on your website project.
I may display and link to your completed project in my portfolio, blog posts and on social media.
I cannot be held liable for the success of your website or blog, including but not limited to the sale of products, services or other revenue generated.
I am generally available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10am – 6pm GMT (British Time).
As an expat who lives across an ocean from family and friends, I understand that time zones don’t always cooperate with office hours. I will do my very best to accommodate your schedule, but cannot guarantee to be available at other times.
